Job summary

Centerline Logistics seeks a Tank Barge Operator to safely transfer petroleum products between barges, ships, and facilities on the U.S. West, Gulf, and Atlantic coastlines. You will plan loads, monitor gauges, and operate pumps, valves, and safety systems.

You will maintain documents, ensure regulatory compliance, and support maintenance aboard barges, while communicating with crews and facilities. A strong safety mindset and physical fitness are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Tank Barge PIC endorsement required.
• Valid USCG Merchant Mariners Document and STCW endorsements (RFPNW, Basic Training, Vessel Security).
• TWIC Card and Passport required for employment.
• First Aid and CPR certification; 24 hr HAZWOPER training preferred.
• Driver's license and basic computer skills expected.

Responsibilities

• Create load/discharge plans for trim, stability, and safe cargo operations.
• Monitor tank levels during topping off, stripping, and sampling.
• Operate mooring winches, diesel engines, pumps, valves, and related equipment.
• Conduct gauging with tapes and prepare Bills of Lading and logs.
• Perform routine maintenance and ensure regulatory compliance aboard barges.
• Communicate with foreign crews and port facilities; respond to emergencies.
• Follow safety protocols and use PPE including SCBA when required.
• Complete paperwork accurately (BOLs, DOIs, BDNs) and maintain cleanliness.
