Magnolia Marine Transport Co. in Vicksburg, MS is seeking a Barge Maintenance Assistant to manage maintenance and inspections on MMT barges, ensuring compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations and company safety standards.

The role supports safe and efficient marine operations through maintenance coordination, inspections, repairs, and regulatory compliance. Requires Coast Guard credentials, strong safety focus, and willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Coast Guard Tankerman Certificate with at least two years of experience is required.
• Valid driver’s license and TWIC card are required.
• Extensive knowledge of U.S. Coast Guard regulations for bulk oil shipments on inland waters.

Responsibilities

• Perform U.S. Coast Guard inspections of MMT barges.
• Serve as backup Vetting Coordinator for customer inspections of MMT barges.
• Maintain proper documentation aboard all MMT barges.
• Review hull inspection reports from vessel personnel.
• Coordinate dry docking and internal U.S. Coast Guard inspections.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs for MMT barges.
• Report unsafe conditions and nonconformities to supervisor.
• Teach barge maintenance duties to boat crews through training courses.
