Job summary

Tilcon Connecticut Inc. in Branford, a CRH company, is seeking a utility person for our barge loading facility. The role runs 6:00am–2:00pm with weekend work as needed, reporting to the quarry superintendent and following safety procedures.

Candidate must work in a team, handle heavy lifting, and perform equipment maintenance and inspections. The job emphasizes safety, quality, and integrity in all tasks and requires outdoor work in varying temperatures.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
• Trade/mechanical education preferred.
• Maintenance/mechanical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate chutes and belt feeders for barge loading.
• Perform maintenance and greasing of conveyor systems.
• Perform repairs on dock equipment.
• Assist in staging barges under loading conveyor with winch cables.
• Assist as deckhand when moving barges and securing for storage.
• Safely operate maintenance equipment and report problems promptly.
• Perform maintenance and housekeeping on quarry equipment; climb ladders to access platforms.
• Heavy lifting 75–100 lbs and daily shovel of sand and stone.
• Follow OSHA and MSHA safety procedures and daily task directions.
