Job summary

Columbus Technical College is seeking an adjunct Barbering Instructor to teach in all areas of barbering, including haircutting, skin, facials, and shaving techniques. This role involves preparing lesson plans for classroom and lab instruction, as well as evaluating student progress and meeting safety requirements in trainings.

This part-time/exempt position may require teaching high school students, travel, and instruction at various sites within the service area.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Georgia Master Barbering License required.
Teaching preparation program completion is required.
Minimum of 3 years in-field barber or instructor experience.
Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

Instruct students in all areas of barbering.
Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines, goals and objectives.
Evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
Request and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment.
Develop teaching methods and maintain management procedures and documentation.
Meet with students, staff, and educators to discuss instructional programs.
Ensure safety and security requirements are met in training areas.
Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
Maintain program certification requirements, as appropriate.
Strong time management and organization skills.
Effective written and oral communication.
Keen observation, supervision and evaluation skills.
General computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel).
Other job-related duties as assigned.
Excellent work ethics and customer service skills.
