Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a leading home and school providing a cost-free, career-focused education to 2,100 pre-K through 12th grade students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Established in 1909 by Milton and Catherine Hershey, the school is fully endowed and has nearly 12,000 graduates, with ongoing expansion plans.

MHS is seeking a part-time Barber for the School’s Hair Salon – Spartan Styles, to provide hair care services to students from Pre-K through 12th grades. The role involves performing barbering services (clipper and scissor cuts) for male students, requiring experience with various hair types and cutting techniques. Promoting healthy hair through grooming and hygiene instruction is also essential. The schedule is flexible, with hours typically from Monday through Saturday, including Monday to Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and occasional Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The position offers approximately 20-29 hours per week, depending on student scheduling needs.

Compensation is hourly, based on experience, ranging from $23.40 to $38.61. Part-time staff are eligible for benefits such as a retirement plan, employee assistance program, free on-duty lunches, and Hershey area discounts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Current PA State Certification
• Barber or Cosmetology License
• Strong barbering skills (scissors & clipper cuts)
• Experience in a professional beauty/barber shop preferred
• Experience working with youth and providing hair care to children from Pre-K to 12th grade
• Professional demeanor with good time management and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate in a diverse workplace and interact professionally with students, children, and adults
• Skills in Microsoft & Google applications, Internet (preferred)
• Proficiency in Spanish (a plus)
• Willingness to engage with students beyond job responsibilities
• High integrity, serving as a role model for students
