Job summary

FAIRMONT New Orleans is seeking a dedicated Barback to support poolside beverage service and maintain a pristine, efficient bar area. You will replenish stock, assist with setup and breakdown for daily operations and special events, and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

This role requires flexibility to work weekends and evenings, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. Prior barback or hospitality experience is preferred, with strong teamwork and customer

Qualifications

• Previous barback, restaurant, hospitality, or Food & Beverage experience preferred.
• Luxury hotel, resort, pool, lounge, or upscale restaurant experience is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of spirits, cocktails, wine, and beer preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Highly dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.

Responsibilities

• Support bartenders in delivering poolside beverage service.
• Maintain stocked, clean, organized, and presentation-ready bar.
• Restock spirits, beer, wine, mixers, syrups, garnishes, glassware, ice, and supplies.
• Prepare garnishes, juices, syrups, and components per recipes.
• Maintain adequate ice levels during service.
• Assist with opening/closing Pool Lounge bar and beverage areas.
• Assist with setup/breakdown for daily pool operations and events.
• Remove used glassware, dishes, trash, and recycling promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness of bar tops, counters, coolers, sinks, and storage areas.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining bar equipment and tools.
• Receive, organize, rotate, and store beverage products.

• Support Bartenders in delivering exceptional, efficient, and engaging poolside beverage service.
• Maintain a fully stocked, clean, organized, and presentation-ready bar throughout service.
• Restock spirits, beer, wine, mixers, juices, syrups, garnishes, glassware, cups, straws, napkins, ice, and other beverage supplies.
• Prepare garnishes, juices, syrups, mixers, and other beverage components according to established recipes and standards.
• Maintain adequate ice levels throughout service.
• Assist with opening and closing the Pool Lounge bar and beverage service areas.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of the bar for daily pool operations, VIP experiences, cabanas, private events, and special functions.
• Remove used glassware, dishes, trash, and recycling promptly from bar and poolside service areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of bar tops, counters, coolers, sinks, storage areas, equipment, and service stations.
• Assist with cleaning and maintaining bar equipment and tools.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, rotating, and storing beverage products.
• Maintain proper product rotation and storage procedures.
• Assist with inventory counts, requisitions, waste tracking, and product accountability.
• Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages or equipment concerns to leadership.
• Safely transport beverage products, ice, equipment, and supplies throughout the hotel and pool areas.
• Assist Servers and Runners with service support during high-volume periods.
• Maintain knowledge of Pool Lounge food and beverage offerings.
• Interact with guests warmly and professionally when appropriate.
• Follow all applicable Louisiana alcohol regulations and responsible beverage service procedures.
• Follow all hotel safety, sanitation, and pool-area safety procedures.
• Maintain a polished and professional appearance consistent with Fairmont New Orleans standards.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
