Responsibilities

• Stock products for the bar, including beverages and icing wells.
• Sweep and mop the bar area.
• Move kegs and tap kegs as needed.
• Draft beer and pour wine for guests; restock supplies for bartenders.
• Ensure equipment is operable and clean before events.
• Maintain bar cleanliness and sanitation throughout shifts.
• Identify intoxicated guests and alert bartenders.
• Maintain health, safety, and sanitation standards.
• Demonstrate excellent attendance per company standards.

Position Summary

The Barback is responsible for backing up the bartender by restocking products to ensure the bartender stays fully stocked during events while ensuring all policies and procedures regarding alcohol dispensing are followed. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $17.00 - $18.00 and is tip eligible.

About The Venue

Located in the heart of Bismarck, the Bismarck Event Center is the region’s premier destination for live entertainment, conventions, meetings, sporting events, and community gatherings. As the largest event and conference facility in western North Dakota, the venue hosts a diverse range of events each year, including concerts, trade shows, banquets, conferences, family shows, and special events.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for stocking products for the bar, including N/A beverages, alcoholic beverages, and icing wells
• Sweeping and moping the bar.
• Moving kegs in and out of keg coolers and tapping kegs.
• Drafting beer and pouring wine for guest orders, running supplies for bartenders to back up fruit, napkins, cups, utensils, and stirrers.
• Assures that the location equipment is operable and clean prior to the start of the event.
• Maintain cleanliness of the bar and surrounding areas utilizing sanitation procedures; this includes mopping floors, cleaning and stacking floor mats, emptying and relining trash cans, and keeping closet areas clear of debris and clutter.
• Responsible for recognizing guests that are visibly intoxicated and taking action to make bartenders aware of such individuals.
• Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
• Show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume bar capacity is preferred.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
• Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff, and guests in a clear, businesslike, and respectful manner, which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment.
• Possess a valid food handling certificate and alcohol service permit if required by state and federal regulations.
• Ability to calculate basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages) as they relate to product inventory.
