Job summary

NAIA, located along the Chicago River in River North, is seeking a Barback to support bartenders and keep the service moving smoothly. You will stock, clean, and organize wells, assist during peak hours, and help ensure guests receive prompt drink service.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year of barback experience in fine dining or high-volume settings, knowledge of health and sanitation standards, and the stamina to work a fast-paced shift while maintaining a positive, guest-focused attitude.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience as Barback; fine dining or high-volume preferred.
• Knowledge of local health department requirements; Food Handlers and Basset Certification required.
• Ability to move, lift, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds; stand for long periods.
• A positive, guest-focused attitude with teamwork and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Assist with opening/closing duties by stocking bar consumables and supplies.
• Ensure the bar has adequate ice, liquor, wine, and beer at all times.
• Check taps and change kegs as needed; maintain keg freshness.
• Keep bar surfaces clean; wipe, sweep, mop, and remove trash.
• Interact with guests; answer questions with courtesy and enthusiasm.
• Support bartender by taking orders, preparing drinks, and processing payments during peak hours.
