Job summary

InterContinental Indianapolis, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, seeks a bartender to deliver exceptional guest experiences on a fast-paced bar. You will maintain bar cleanliness, restock supplies, prepare garnishes and assist with opening/closing duties.

Join a property on Monument Circle with strong training, room for growth and inclusive team culture. The position requires staying flexible for nights, weekends and holidays and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• The strength to lift up to 50lbs (23 kg) and bend/kneel as needed.
• Reading, writing and basic math skills are required.
• Flexibility to work night, weekend and holiday shifts.
• Compliance with local laws on handling food and serving alcohol; age and language requirements.
• Excellent communication; warm, welcoming demeanour.

Responsibilities

• Clear empty glasses, bottles and debris from bar area and surrounding surfaces.
• Wash and polish glassware; keep supplies stocked.
• Wipe down bar surfaces; maintain cleanliness of back bar and storerooms.
• Restock ice, liquor, beer, wine and garnishes; rotate stock (FIFO).
• Prepare garnishes and basic drink ingredients; assist with opening/closing duties.
• Maintain a safe, organized work environment and follow health regulations.

A little taste of your day-to-day

Every day is different,but you’ll mostly be:

• Clearing empty glasses, bottles, and other debris from the bar top, tables, and surrounding areas.
• Washing and polishing glassware, ensuring an ample supply is always available.
• Wiping down bar surfaces, counters, and equipment.
• Emptying trash and recycling receptacles.
• Cleaning spills and other messes promptly.
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the back bar area, storage areas, and restrooms (if assigned).
• Restocking ice bins and ensuring an adequate supply of ice is always available.
• Replacing empty beer kegs and CO2 tanks.
• Restocking liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, and other bar supplies.
• Preparing garnishes such as fruit slices, wedges, and other cocktail decorations.
• Ensuring that all supplies are properly stored and rotated (FIFO - First In, First Out).
• Fetching supplies for bartenders as needed.
• Preparing basic drink ingredients such as juices and syrups.
• Changing beer kegs and CO2 tanks.
• Assisting with opening and closing duties.
• Maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
• Adhering to all health and safety regulations.

What we need from you

• The strength to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg) which can also involve bending and kneeling
• A good grasp of reading, writing and basic math
• The flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts
• Compliance with local laws on food handling and serving alcohol – you’ll need to be above the minimum age required and fluent in the local language
• Great communication – you’ll be warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to

The hourly pay rate for this role is $9 + tip
