Barback role at Pyramid Global Hospitality located at Chatham Bars Inn, Chatham, MA. The role supports bar operations, delivers food and beverages, and provides professional service in line with our standards.
Responsibilities
- Thorough knowledge of Food & Beverage outlet operations including foods, beverages, service techniques, and guest interaction.
- Greet all guests with enthusiasm and maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, acknowledge all guests, resolve complaints, and ensure guest satisfaction.
- Answer guest questions about food, beverages, and facilities accurately and in a friendly manner.
- Provide the highest level of service in accordance with company standards.
- Trash pickup and disposal at bar and bar service areas.
- Complete tasks related to stocking, replenishing, cleaning, maintenance, and preparation of beverages under the guidance of the bartender.
- Maintain and stock adequate supplies of bar items such as glasses, napkins, drink supplies, and condiments.
- Wash glasses and other serving equipment at bars.
- Stock refrigerating units with wines and beer; replace beer kegs as needed.
- Remove soiled wares from bar tops and tables to the dishwashing area.
- Arrange bottles and glasses to create attractive displays.
- Order or requisition liquors and supplies.
- Communicate with food and beverage staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Maintain professional relationships with all co-workers.
- Answer outlet phones using correct greeting and telephone etiquette.
- Follow checklists and standard operating procedures.
- Prepare work area for opening, mid-shift, or closing in accordance with company standards.
- Complete side work during non-busy hours.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
- Maintain knowledge of all food and beverage menu items, including liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections.
- Abide by state liquor regulations, including prohibitions on serving minors or intoxicated guests.
- Perform related tasks as requested by management and be prepared to support additional functions as required.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years old.
- Excellent people skills and an outgoing personality.
- Current state alcohol serving permit.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs and move up to 150 lbs with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods.
- Demonstrated competency as outlined in the training schedule.
- Service-minded with a positive attitude and ability to help others.
- Ability to remain quick on their feet and handle stressful situations.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to handle criticism in a professional manner.
- Current TIPS or comparable alcohol service certification.
Prior food & beverage experience and a high school diploma are preferred. Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. Ability to obtain Food Service Sanitation certification; First Aid and CPR certifications are preferred. All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance. English language proficiency is required; bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish) are helpful.
