Job summary

Cape Resorts Group's Congress Hall in Cape May, NJ, seeks a dedicated bar staff member to ensure smooth beverage service and bar cleanliness. You will prepare mixers, restock, set up/break down of the bar and assist bartenders in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong communication, basic math, knowledge of drink preparation, and the ability to work in varied temperatures, with a neat appearance and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mixers, cut fruit, receive requisitions, check par levels, refill mixers, restock glassware, run food and dispose of garbage.
• Sweep floors, polish brass and steel, mop, clean glassware and wipe mirrors in the bar area.
• Set-up and break down of bar and maintain cleanliness of Brown Room and Service Station doors.
• Assist bar staff when needed and retrieve requisitions (beverage, food and non-food).
• Participate in deep cleaning of the bar and help bus tables as needed.
• Keep furniture neat and in floorplan when guests aren’t using it and help with liquor deliveries.

Position Overview: Ensure that the bar is set and maintained so that the bar staff has everything it needs to run an effective operation, as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the bar area, running foot, and set-up and breakdown of the bar.These duties may be described as, but not limited to:Prepare mixers, cut fruit, receive requisitions, check par levels, refill mixers, get ice, restock glassware, run food, and collect and dispose of garbage.Sweep the floors, polish brass and steel, mop, clean glassware and wipe down mirrors in the bar area. Set-up and break down of bar.Keep the Brown Room doors and the Service Station doors clean at all times – a magic eraser removes black scuffsAssist bar staff when needed.Retrieve requisitions (beverage, food and non-food).Participate in the deep cleaning of the bar.Be present, at all times, in the bar available to assist bartenders as neededContinuously bus tables as needed – DO NOT leave empty glassware and plates for someone else to bus.Keep furniture neat and to floorplan when guests aren’t using itPut liquor deliveries away as time allows, but check in regularly with bartendersWork at a fast pace to ensure beverage service is consistent and timelyRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.Must possess basic computational ability.Must have a strong knowledge of drink preparation and applicable health standards.Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems however must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10º F) and kitchens (+110º F), possibly for one hour or more.Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.Minimum Qualifications:High school or equivalent education required.Prior bar experience preferred.Must be minimum age to serve alcohol.All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Congress Hall standards.This job description is not an exclusive or exhaustive list of all job functions that an employee in this position may be asked to perform from time to time.
