Job summary

Square One Concepts, Inc. is seeking a barback to support bartenders by replenishing ice, garnishes, and glassware and to help keep the bar stocked for service.

You will set up and break down the bar, maintain cleanliness, and assist in operating beverage equipment. Training is provided; flexibility is required for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be at least twenty-one years old.
• Previous experience as a barback or in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training provided.
• Must have a valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Must have an Alcohol Service Licensing or certification.
• Ability to learn cash register software used by bar or restaurant POS – Aloha, Hot Schedule, Paylocity.

Responsibilities

• Support Bartenders: replenish ice, garnishes, and glassware promptly.
• Set up and break down the bar area and equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of bar surfaces, shelves, and equipment.
• Monitor inventory and restock beverages and supplies.
• Take orders, deliver drinks, and provide excellent customer service.
• Assist in operating beverage equipment and preparation of specialty cocktails.
• Adhere to safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations.
• Collaborate with staff for efficient service during peak hours.
• Attend trainings to stay updated on beverage trends.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Barbacks are primarily responsible for making sure the bartender has everything they need to make our guests’ bar dining experience delightful. Maintaining the quantity of items needed at the bar by tracking inventory and restocking the bar. They are attentive to our guests and assist with attending to their needs when the Bartender is unavailable.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Support Bartenders: Assist bartenders in preparing and serving beverages by replenishing supplies, such as ice, garnishes, and glassware, in a timely manner.
• Set Up and Break Down: Prepare the bar area for service, including cleaning and polishing glassware, restocking drink ingredients, and arranging bar tools and equipment. After service, ensure proper cleaning and storage of all items.
• Maintain Cleanliness: Regularly clean and organize the bar area, including counters, floors, shelves, and equipment. Ensure all surfaces and utensils meet hygiene standards.
• Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels and communicate with the bar manager or supervisor to ensure an adequate supply of beverages, ingredients, and supplies. Retrieve items from storage areas as needed.
• Customer Service: Assist bartenders in serving customers by taking orders, delivering drinks, and providing exceptional customer service. Respond to customer inquiries and requests promptly and courteously.
• Assist in Bar Operations: Collaborate with bartenders to prepare and serve specialty cocktails, as well as operate beverage equipment, such as blenders and coffee machines.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and alcohol service regulations to create a safe and responsible environment. Report any safety hazards or incidents to the management promptly.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with bartenders, servers, and other staff members to ensure efficient communication and seamless operations during peak hours and events.
• Learn and Grow: Stay updated on beverage trends, recipes, and bar techniques. Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail to ensure the bar is clean, well-stocked, and visually appealing.
• Team Player: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with the bar team and other staff members.
• Customer-Focused: Commitment to providing outstanding customer service and ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
• Knowledge of Beverages: Basic knowledge of various alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails and their ingredients, is advantageous.
• Legal Requirements: Compliance with legal drinking age requirements and any other local regulations related to the service of alcohol.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including evening, weekends, and holidays.

Education and Experience:
