In addition to leading the bar program, the Bar Manager must actively support the dining room and front‑of‑house operations. This includes assisting the floor during peak service, collaborating with managers and servers, and ensuring seamless guest experiences throughout the entire restaurant, not just behind the bar.

The ideal candidate is a polished hospitality professional with strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of beverages, and the ability to drive both guest satisfaction and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the quality and consistency of all cocktails, wine service, spirits, and non‑alcoholic beverages.
  • Maintain and evolve beverage menus in collaboration with ownership and management.
  • Ensure all recipes, specs, and presentation standards are executed flawlessly.
Front‑of‑House Support
  • Actively support the dining room during service, assisting with guest relations, floor management, and operational flow.
  • Step in to support servers, sommeliers, and management when needed.
  • Ensure bar and lounge operations integrate seamlessly with overall restaurant service.
Team Management
  • Hire, train, schedule, and mentor bartenders and bar support staff.
  • Conduct regular training on cocktail specs, product knowledge, service standards, and DOH compliance.
  • Lead by example during service, maintaining a calm, professional presence.
  • Understand HR rules and regulations for NYC and coach/manage staff based on those policies.
Inventory & Cost Control
  • Manage beverage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships.
  • Monitor par levels and alert management of low stock, discrepancies, ordering needs, and operational concerns.
  • Oversee end‑of‑month inventory counts with the management team to ensure accuracy and accountability.
  • Maintain accountability for beverage cost targets and waste reduction.
Compliance & Cleanliness
  • Ensure strict adherence to NYC DOH sanitation standards and safe alcohol service regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and polished bar environment at all times.
  • Enforce labeling, storage, and FIFO procedures for all bar products.
Guest Experience
  • Ensure all guests in the bar and lounge areas receive the highest level of hospitality and the best possible Golden Steer Experience.
  • Address guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Foster a warm, engaging, refined bar atmosphere consistent with the Golden Steer brand.
Operational Oversight
  • Manage daily opening and closing procedures.
  • Monitor equipment functionality and alert management of maintenance needs.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and FOH management to ensure smooth service flow.
Experience & Qualifications (Must‑Haves)
  • 3–5+ years of bartending experience in an upscale, high‑volume restaurant.
  • 4+ years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wine, and bar operations.
  • Proven experience managing beverage inventory and cost controls.
  • Experience training and leading teams.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management software.
  • NYC Food Protection Certificate and ATAP/TIPS certification preferred.
  • English required, Spanish a plus.
Physical & Scheduling Requirements
  • Stand and move for 8–10 hours during service.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (cases, bar stock).
  • Nights, weekends, and holidays required.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary (commensurate with experience).
