Job summary

Saint Kate, The Arts Hotel is seeking a part-time Bar Back for The Bar, its gathering space in Milwaukee. You will assist bartenders by stocking, preparing garnishes, and maintaining bar supplies while upholding health and safety standards.

The role emphasizes basic math, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift items up to 200 lbs, with a focus on efficient service and guest satisfaction. Prior bar experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior bar experience preferred.
• Knowledgeable in preparation of alcoholic beverages and liquor regulations.
• Basic mathematical skills to ensure proper deliveries and inventory.
• Manual dexterity to handle glassware, bottles, ice, and stock items.
• Ability to communicate in English with staff and guests.
• Ability to read and follow safety handling instructions.
• Ability to lift/move up to 200 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare perishable garnishes, fruits, and juices according to business levels.
• Maintain adequate bar supplies and storeroom orders.
• Verify orders from storeroom for accuracy.
• Store products properly in designated areas.
• Ensure cleanliness and compliance with health standards in bar areas.
• Scoop and transport ice to service areas.
• Transport and maintain portable bars and tap units.
• Assist with additional duties as requested by management.

As a Bar Back you will be responsible for the initial preparation and servicing of the bar, making sure that all items are stocked, allowing us to serve our guests their drink of choice.

What will you be doing?

What we are looking for?

• Prior bar experience preferred.
• Must be knowledgeable in preparation of alcoholic beverages including adhering to all State, Federal, and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to ensure proper delivery amounts, understand portion sizes, and assist with inventory.
• Sufficient manual dexterity of hands and arms in order to use a knife, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, tap kegs, and extend arms overhead to stock items.
• Ability to comprehend and communicate in English in order to provide service as requested by bartenders, managers and guests.
• Ability to read and comprehend safe-handling instructions of products and equipment.
• Ability to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry, or otherwise, move or push goods on hand cart/truck weighing a maximum of 200 lbs.
