Job summary

Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia is seeking a Banquets Intern to learn event management under experienced hospitality leaders. This entry-level trainee will assist with a variety of tasks and support the banquet team to deliver memorable events.

Must be enrolled in Howard Community College’s Hospitality Program. English literacy, 18+ and willingness to comply with state gaming regulations are required. This role offers hands-on training in planning, service, and coordination.

• Must be enrolled in the Hospitality Program at Howard Community College.
• Must be able to comply with all state gaming regulations, which may include obtaining a license.

Responsibilities

• Event Planning & Execution: Support coordination and setup of events and assist in delivering service that matches client expectations.
• Guest Service & Communication: Greet clients and respond to requests to ensure satisfaction.
• Inventory & Equipment Management: Monitor banquet equipment and supplies and assist with cleaning and organizing equipment.
• Scheduling & Staffing Support: Observe and assist with scheduling and training of banquet team members.
• Compliance & Beverage Service: Learn safe and responsible service of beverages per regulations.
• Operational Standards & Procedures: Help implement service standards for banquet and catering functions.
• Cross-Department Coordination: Support vendor and department collaboration for successful events.
• Other duties as assigned.

A Banquets Intern is an entry-level trainee who works with experienced hospitality leaders to learn the skills and concepts designed to develop future leaders in event management. Their main task is to assist hospitality leadership with a variety of tasks.

Must be enrolled in Howard Community College’s Hospitality Program.

Responsibilities

Where You'll Make an Impact:

• Event Planning & Execution: Support the coordination and setup of events. Assist in executing service to match client expectations.
• Guest Service & Communication: Greet clients and guests at events, respond to requests, and help ensure satisfaction throughout service. Learn to deliver professional, guest-focused service.
• Inventory & Equipment Management: Help monitor banquet equipment and supplies. Participate in cleaning and organizing equipment during slower times. Learn how to manage physical assets for efficiency and visual presentation.
• Scheduling & Staffing Support: Observe and assist with scheduling, training new banquet team members, and understanding how staffing aligns with event needs and labor budgets.
• Compliance & Beverage Service: Learn safe and responsible service of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with federal, state, and company regulations.
• Operational Standards & Procedures: Observe and assist with implementing service procedures and standards for banquet and catering functions. Support efforts to create smooth, efficient, and visually impressive events.
• Cross-Department Coordination: Support relationships with vendors and other departments to ensure successful execution of group functions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills to Help You Succeed:

• Customer service experience dealing directly with customers.
• POS (point of sales) Software experience.
• Upbeat, outgoing and positive attitude.
• Good communication skills.
• Proficient in Micros, XLS, and Microsoft Word.
• Experience working in a team environment.

Qualifications

Must-Haves:

• Must be able to read, write and understand English.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be enrolled in the Hospitality Program at Howard Community College.
• Must be able to comply with all state gaming regulations, which may include obtaining a license.

Physical Requirements:

• Stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time.
• Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Standing and walking for the duration of the shift.
• Repetitive lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Bending, stooping, and squatting.
