Job summary

The Westin Memphis Beale Street Hotel in Memphis, TN is seeking a Banquet Setup/Server to perform setup, service, and breakdown for banquet and meeting functions. You will set tables, serve courses, and ensure guest satisfaction according to brand standards.

Requirements include 1 year of server experience, valid Tennessee ABC license for alcohol service, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and willingness to work on-call, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older to serve alcohol.
• Must have Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission License.
• Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent Vocational Training certificate.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Restaurant or Banquet Food Server.
• Must be able to work various on-call shifts, days, nights, weekends, holidays.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time/full shift.
• Must be able to push/pull service carts, misc. equipment, up to 250 pounds.
• Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members.
• Must be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
• Must have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system (as applicable).
• Must be able to work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Set up chairs, tables, stands, and Audio-Visual equipment according to function specifications
• Following functions, breaks down equipment and furniture for storage or use in additional functions .
• Maintains ongoing cleanliness of banquet/ meeting rooms as required.
• Maintains banquet supplies and equipment in stock in satisfactory working order.
• As necessary, launders folds, and stores banquet linen.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies, service procedures and standards.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
• Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests.
• Always maintain positive guest relations.
• Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
• Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
• Retrieve alcoholic beverage items from bar and serve to guest.
• Open and serve wine/champagne bottles.
• Make all varieties of coffee.
• Serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items to the guest in accordance with function requirements.
• Clear each course following procedures.
• Set up, monitor, refresh and breakdown coffee breaks, receptions, and buffet tables for specified functions according to group requirements.

Summary of Position

To perform set-up and breakdown duties for scheduled banquet and meeting functions. Serves food and beverage to guests according to brand food standards. Sets tables with linen, silverware, China, etc., according to size and theme of banquet.
