Job summary

The Westin Memphis Beale Street Hotel is seeking a part-time Banquet Server in Memphis, TN. You will serve food and beverages, set up banquet spaces, and assist with function service according to brand standards. This on-call role requires flexibility across shifts based on event demands.

Summary of Position

Serves food and beverage to guests according to brand food standards. Sets tables with linen, silverware, China, etc., according to size and theme of banquet. Cleans tables after food service, removing linens, silverware, China, etc., to kitchen area. Serves food and beverage to guests according to procedures and fulfills additional requests. This is a part time/ on call position that requires working a variation of shifts based off food and beverage business demands. Banquet Server experience is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies, service procedures and standards.
• Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
• Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
• Always maintain positive guest relations.
• Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
• Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
• Maintain complete knowledge of service requirements for assigned function:
• Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
• Maintain complete knowledge of Point-of-Sale and manual systems.
• Complete pre-function job responsibilities: Setup side station as assigned by Supervisor.
• Retrieve alcoholic beverage items from bar and serve to guest.
• Open and serve wine/champagne bottles.
• Make all varieties of coffee.
• Serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items to the guest in accordance with function requirements.
• Clear each course following procedures.
• Remove all tabletop items, linen and equipment from the function room as designated by function requirements.
• Set up, monitor, refresh and breakdown coffee breaks, receptions, and buffet tables for specified functions according to group requirements.
• Breakdown all goods as specified.
• Clean all equipment as assigned.
• Restock items for next service.
• Adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies/procedures.

Job Requirements

• Be at least 21-years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
• Must have an active Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission License.
• Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent Vocational Training certificate.
• Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience as a Restaurant or Banquet Food Server.
• Must be able to work various on-call shifts, days, nights, weekends, holidays.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time/full shift.
• Must be able to push/pull service carts, misc. equipment, up to 250 pounds.
• Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members.
• Must be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of our guests.
• Must have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system (as applicable).
• Must be able to work unsupervised.
