Position Summary

The Banquet Server is responsible for serving guests in the venue dining areas and catering functions. The Banquet Server must be customer-service oriented and personable. Must be able to work in an ever-changing fast-paced environment.

This role pays an hourly wage of $5.26, plus tips.

About the Venue

Atlantic City Convention Center & Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall

Responsibilities
  1. Must demonstrate ability to read and comprehend Banquet Event Orders when setting up guest events and serving.
  2. Responsible for serving meals to guests or replenishing food to the buffet line.
  3. Responsible for serving beverages to guests including alcoholic beverages. Must check guest’s ID to verify minimum age requirement for the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  4. Must be able to carry ten (10) meals on a tray.
  5. Responsible for recording a client’s order and relaying the order to the kitchen. Example: re-orders and special meal requests.
  6. Responsible for observing guests to respond to any additional requests and determine when the meal has been completed.
  7. Responsible for performing side work including but not limited to: refilling salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiments, and napkins.
  8. Responsible for replacing tableware and linens as necessary.
  9. Responsible for setting up banquet functions including table décor, linens, dishware, glassware, and silverware.
  10. Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
  11. Must show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.
  12. Additional duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or Ovations management staff for the successful outcome of an event or customer service situation.
Qualifications
  1. Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, respectful, and professional manner, fostering a positive work environment.
  2. Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  3. Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
  4. Possess a valid food handling certificate and alcohol service permit if required by state or federal regulations.
  5. High School diploma or equivalent GED preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
  6. Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in events, banquets, or restaurants preferred.
  7. Must be at least eighteen years of age to serve alcoholic drinks.
  8. Experience working in fine or large-scale dining is preferred.
