Job summary

Salt Wood Kitchen & Oysterette in Monterey seeks a Banquet Server to set up banquet spaces and deliver food and beverages according to service standards. You will participate in pre-event briefings, assist guests, and ensure smooth service across courses while maintaining safety protocols and hospitality excellence.

The role requires standing for extended periods, weekends/holidays, and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Prior food service experience and a high school diploma are preferred.

• Ability to remember and recite menu items.

Responsibilities

• Set up banquet room as instructed by supervisor.
• Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars.
• Serve food and/or beverages as directed to maintain consistency.
• Replenish beverages and check guest satisfaction.
• Remove dishes as courses finish and assist guests as needed.
• Handle special requests and guest complaints gracefully.
• Follow alcohol service rules and safety procedures.
• Maintain safe work habits and comply with MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Your Focus

• Set up banquet room as instructed by supervisor.
• Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations.
• Serve the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation of the supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet.
• Replenish beverages as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
• Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal at the end of the meal or function.
• Respond to guest special requests and resolve guest complaints.
• Abide by all state, federal and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
• Practice safe work habits; wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Your Background and Skills

• Work schedule varies and will include working on holidays and weekends.
