Job description

The Delta Hotels Minneapolis Northeast is seeking an hourly Banquet Server.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Serve all food and beverage items utilizing appropriate plating, glassware, silverware, and condiments.
  2. Ensure service areas are safe by transporting items properly and attending to spills and hazards immediately.
  3. Have a comprehensive knowledge of all menu items, beverages, wines, etc.
  4. Ensure quality guest service and comfort at all times by monitoring the area continuously.
  5. Clear tables and return equipment to appropriate areas; all reusable food items are to be returned to the kitchen.
  6. Maintain ServSafe regulations when serving alcoholic beverages.
  7. Gather all items needed to service a function.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Stand, walk, and exert well-paced activity for up to 4 hours.
  2. Demonstrate physical ability to perform culinary techniques such as cooking principles, cutting, plate presentation, and safety practices.
  3. Work indoors in controlled temperatures and in extreme conditions like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F).
  4. Physically handle and carry knives, pots, and pans, and transport up to 50 lbs; ask for assistance if needed.
  5. Regularly lift 30 lbs.
  6. Push/pull carts weighing up to 250 lbs occasionally; ask for assistance if needed.
  7. Work effectively in limited spaces with well-paced movement.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Knowledge of table service standards, including table settings and food presentation.
  2. Knowledge of laws and regulations regarding alcohol service.
  3. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  4. Knowledge of proper ID checking procedures.
  5. Availability to be on-call.
  6. Adhere to safety rules and regulations.
  7. Ability to work under pressure and during long or break shifts.
  8. Availability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  9. Effective communication with guests, supervisors, and co-workers.
  10. Understanding of safety and sanitation standards.
  11. Personable with strong communication skills.
  12. Knowledge of hotel services, facilities, directions, and surrounding area.
