Ruth Eckerd Hall, Inc. is seeking a part‑time Food & Beverage team member to support banquet and catering services. You will assist in table prep, buffet setup, and in-event food service, while maintaining safety and cleanliness standards throughout events.

You should have a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years in high-volume food service or catering. Strong customer service and teamwork are essential for success in this fast‑paced, event‑driven environment.

Qualifications

REPORTS TO: Director of Catering

POSITION CONCEPT

To serve the Mission, Vision and Values of REH, Inc. by providing excellent food service to banquet guests and assisting in preparation and clean‐up of event space.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist with table and banquet hall prep before the event.
• Assist with food/buffet preparation before and during the event.
• Demonstrate a knowledge of the menu and buffet items and specials.
• Ensure safe food handling guidelines are followed by self and team members.
• Arrange food on serving trays in an aesthetic manner.
• Deliver food from the kitchen and/or prep area to the banquet hall in a timely manner.
• Serve appetizers and plated dinners to guests.
• Serve both alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages.
• Refill water glasses.
• Take customer questions and/or requests, assist in a timely and satisfactory manner.
• Keep the work area clean and sufficiently stocked.
• Assist with post‑event clean up, inventory, food storage, and tear down.
• Work as a member of a team, communicate with staff members and supervisors to ensure an efficient work ethic and overall guest satisfaction.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or GED and experience working in a food handling position is required.

EXPERIENCE

• One year customer service experience.
• 2+ years of verifiable high-volume restaurant, fine dining, catering, country club or hotel experience.

DEMONSTRATED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• Ability to communicate with employees, co‑workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business‑like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
• Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment.
• Knowledge of Set‑up and break down, as well as lifting/carrying heavy trays.
• Knowledge of fine dining and proper table set up.
• Experience clearing and serving plated meals.
• Working knowledge of POS system and all equipment in the concessions area.
• Ability to speak, read and write in English.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced, event‑driven environment.
• Possess valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for periods of time.
• Ability to work long and irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.

OTHER

• Ability to maintain good attendance is a condition of employment and a function of this position.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Successful completion of a background check and drug screen.
