Job summary

Keswick Hall in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Banquet Server to join the Food & Beverage team. You will prepare service stations, organize buffets, and communicate guest needs to the kitchen while maintaining high standards of presentation and guest satisfaction.

The role requires 0–2 years in F&B, CPR/First Aid certification, and strong multitasking and teamwork abilities in a luxury setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 0–2 years F&B serving experience considered.
• Certified in CPR, First Aid AED.
• Strong knowledge of wine, cocktails and menu offerings.
• Ability to multi-task and observe the dining room.
• Excellent time management and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare coffee breaks, carts and stations with appropriate supplies.
• Organize tables, action stations, buffets, and carts for service.
• Communicate any additional meal requirements or special requests to the kitchen.
• Ensure courses are properly cleared and crumbed in a timely fashion.
• Manage the presentation of tableware for guest accessibility.
• Recognize and address potential intoxicated or disruptive guests.
• Monitor cleanliness and proper sanitization of tables and service areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

History and spectacular landscapes come together, at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is the setting for Keswick Hall, an impressive 80-room luxury boutique hotel nestled on 600 acres which recently re-opened in 2021 after renovations. Home to the prestigious Keswick Golf Club, Marigold Restaurant, by Jean-Georges, a new luxury spa and sports and aquatics center.

The Banquet Server is an essential member of the Food & Beverage team dedicated to delivering the best in service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare coffee breaks, carts and stations with appropriate supplies.
• Organize tables, action stations, buffets, and carts for service.
• Communicate any additional meal requirements or special requests to the kitchen.
• Ensure courses are properly cleared and crumbed in a timely fashion.
• Manage the presentation of tableware so that it is accessible for the guests.
• Recognize and address potential intoxicated disruptive or undesirable guests.
• Monitor cleanliness and proper sanitization of tables, stations and service areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 0-2 years food & beverage serving experience and/or high volume banquet serving experience. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
• Certified in CPR, First Aid AED
• Strong wine, cocktail and menu knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of food & beverage.
• Strong ability to multi-task and observe entire dining room.
• Strong time management skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• The ability to be descriptive and engaging in the presentation.
• Must possess the ability to organize and prioritize.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts as will involve days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to go up and down staircase as well as stoop and bend.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
