Job summary

Boyd Gaming Corporation is seeking a Banquet Porter to provide superior service and manage the setup and takedown of banquets, meetings, and ballroom functions. You will ensure clean, organized banquet areas and assist with linen, equipment storage, and event tracking to support successful gatherings.

The role is physical and requires standing, lifting, and working with varied crowds on shifts as needed, with opportunities to collaborate closely with the Banquet Captain and departmental managers.

Qualifications

• Must be able to balance and carry large trays up to 50 pounds.
• Able to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks.
• Must obtain and maintain required licenses/certifications per regulations.
• Two months of on-the-job training or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up and breakdown of banquet rooms, meeting spaces, and catered event areas.
• Provide superior customer service and maintain professional interactions.
• Keep equipment storage areas neat, inventoried, and organized.
• Handle linen management for the department.
• Track upcoming events and banquets and support leadership as needed.

Job Description

The Banquet Porter is responsible for providing superior service to both the internal and external customer. They are also responsible for the setup and takedown of banquets, meetings, and ballroom functions.

The Banquet Porter:

• Provides superior customer service, positively effects interactions with customers and employees, and has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers.
• Responsible for the set-up and breakdown of the meeting rooms and any room used for group meetings or any catered event.
• Must arrange all equipment storage areas neatly, inventoried and organized at all times.
• Responsible for the linen used in this department.
• Tracks upcoming events and banquets.
• Completes other tasks as assigned by Banquet Captain, Department Assistant Manager, and Department Manager

Qualifications

• This position is physical in nature and requires the ability to balance and carry large trays weighing up to 50 pounds and maneuver in order to clean banquet areas, organize stock and restock trays.
• This position requires the ability to perform repetitive tasks such as stacking chairs and loading or unloading of table carts.
• Ability to stand and perform physical tasks for the majority of a shift
• Ability to inspect and maintain areas for which responsible.
• Ability to effectively and efficiently move around banquet areas.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and all levels of employees.
• Ability to review and comprehend necessary documentation.
• Must be flexible to work varying shifts and time schedules as needed.
• Ability to work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of crowds, noise and smoke, the severity of which depends upon customer volume.
• Indiana ABC Permit (Liquor License) required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain all appropriate licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.

The skills necessary of position can typically acquired through two months of on-the-job training and/or through related experience.
