Job Summary

The Banquet Manager oversees all banquet and special event operations, ensuring exceptional guest service by planning, coordinating, and supervising banquet events such as weddings, corporate meetings, conventions, VIP functions, and private parties. The role leads banquet staff, coordinates with culinary, beverage, sales, and casino departments, manages event logistics, and maintains high standards of service, safety, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of Banquet Event Order setup, execution, and breakdown for convention, catering, and banquet functions.
  • Actively participate in budget planning and cost control.
  • Ensure quality of product and service with consistent presentation of food, beverage, and service.
  • Analyze and recognize deficiencies or problem areas and provide corrective material, financial, and personnel resources to accomplish desired results.
  • Communicate effectively with Marketing, Casino Operations, Banquet, Entertainment teams, and corporate office staff.
  • Conduct meetings with departmental staff on a regular basis to ensure thorough and timely information flow.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of all rules and policies.
  • Regulate and oversee safe work practices of all Food & Beverage team members.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, counsel, and supervise all team members within the department.
  • Supervise purchasing of banquet and event products and inventory controls.
Qualifications
  • At least five (5) years of varied Food and Beverage progressive management experience with a strong convention/catering background.
  • Extensive knowledge of culinary, banquets, bar and restaurant operations.
  • Proficient in menu planning, food, liquor, and labor costing, budget, and P/L statements.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of food preparation and menu engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of serving skills at all levels.
  • Strong wine, beer, and spirits knowledge.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of budgeting, fiscal planning, and Food and Beverage cost control.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Comprehensive food knowledge, including P&L statements, cost control, training, inventory control, and sanitation.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Responsible for staff development and training programs.
  • Responsible for rewards and recognition program to maximize employee engagement.
  • Evaluate team members within the department and provide constructive feedback.
  • Determine staffing recommendations (interviewing, hiring) and scheduling to meet business needs.
  • Set work procedures and expedite workflow.
  • Responsible for employee performance management, including discipline, coaching, and counseling.
Language Skills

Proficient in reading, interpreting, and communicating documents in English, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Written and verbal communication skills in English are required.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and common fractions. Skilled in performing calculations using units, weight measurements, and volume.

Reasoning Ability

Apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must also push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance in varying work areas such as confined spaces.

Work Environment
