Job summary

JW Marriott Turnberry Miami Resort & Spa is seeking a Banquet Setup Attendant to ensure flawless room preparations according to banquet orders. You will support guest services in a luxury environment, manage linen and equipment, and assist in floor plans and setups throughout shifts.

Ideal candidates bring basic computer skills, a high school diploma or GED, and at least 6 months in high-volume banquet service or a luxury setting.

• Welcome and assist guests following JW Marriott Turnberry Miami Resort & Spa standards.
• Monitor conference center and respond to guest needs.
• Follow banquet event orders and diagrams precisely.
• Handle linen and table skirts; transport to laundry as needed.
• Prepare and refresh service equipment; clear and set up rooms.
• Break down tables, chairs, and equipment; store properly.
• Set up dance floors when required and maintain clean work areas.
• Assist with moving boxes and maintaining equipment.

Scope of PositionThe Banquet Setup Attendant will ensure that all meeting rooms are setup to perfection and in accordance with banquet event orders and JW standards. The Attendant will ensure that all rooms are kept clean and clear when not in use.Position RequirementsProfessional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment.Basic computer knowledge.Minimum of six (6) months experience in high volume banquet service, luxury hotel atmosphere or conference center preferred.Basic knowledge of conference room set-ups such as Classroom, U-Shape, Theatre Style, etc.Must have excellent organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.Must have the ability to work under pressure and work independently.Must possess a valid driver’s license as this position requires driving a company golf cart throughout the property.ResponsibilitiesWelcome and assist guests according to JW Marriott Turnberry Miami Resort & Spa service standards.Remain observant and respond to each guest who passes through the conference center.Follow details as required on printed banquet event orders and diagrams.Obtain required linen and table skirting from the linen room.Gather, pre-sort soiled linen and table skirts before transporting them to the laundry.Clear, sort, and prepare service equipment for refreshes and room sets.Break down tables, chairs, and equipment for return to storage.Set up of dance floors when required.Maintain cleanliness of work areas and back of the house areas.Assist in the moving of boxes/packages to the desired areas as requested.Assist in the maintenance of equipment.Ensure all room setups are accurate, timely and meet established standards.Clean and maintain room appearance by dusting, vacuuming, cleaning windows, and general detail of banquet rooms.Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.EducationHigh school diploma or GED.Skills and AbilitiesAbility to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of equipment/machinery.Ability to read and interpret diagramsPhysical RequirementsOn a continuous basis, stand or walk for long periods of time.Intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies surrounding desk.Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
