Job summary

Valor Hospitality in the United States is seeking a banquet service professional to properly set, clean and maintain all function rooms, service corridors, storerooms and public areas, ensuring safety and first-class guest service.

You will work with Sales and Food & Beverage, check BEOs, set rooms, buffets and tables, handle AV equipment and maintain equipment in good working order, while upholding OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school education or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Six months hotel or convention center banquet food/beverage services.
  • Skills and Abilities: Able to read, speak and understand English; able to lift 20–40 lbs; stand for long periods; communicate hotel services to management, staff and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Check server’s and house person’s BEOs to ensure information accuracy.
  • Set rooms, buffets, and tables according to BEO specifications and supervisor instructions.
  • Check electrical hook-ups and tape down exposed cords for equipment in use.
  • Perform guest contact activities with cordial, efficient and professional service.
  • Ensure storerooms are clean, organized and secured.
  • Assist in equipment inventory as scheduled.
  • Attend staff setup and technical training regularly.
  • Organize Banquet hall to promote a productive, safe and energy-conserving environment.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and repair; ensure rooms meet department standards.

POSITION PROFILE Properly set, clean and maintain all function rooms, service corridors, storerooms and public function areas in a safe, accident-free manner. Provide excellent customer service and work closely with guests, Sales, and the Food and Beverage departments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Check server’s and house person’s BEOs to ensure that all information is accurate.
  • Set rooms, buffets, and tables according to BEO specifications and Supervisor instructions.
  • Check electrical hook-ups for proper working order and tape down all exposed cords for equipment in use.
  • Perform all guest contact activities or guest request with a cordial, efficient and professional manner while maintaining a commitment to excellence.
  • Ensure that all storerooms are clean, organized and secured.
  • Assist in equipment inventory as scheduled.
  • Attend staff set-up and technical training on a regular basis.
  • Organize Banquet hall to ensure a productive, safe and energy conserving work environment.
  • Ensure proper maintenance (cleaning and repair) of all equipment.
  • Ensure that all unused rooms are set to department’s standards.
  • Constantly communicate all concerns to Banquet Manager.
  • Assist the servers during service by responding to their requests; notify supervisor immediately of any difficulties.
  • Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow associates in all departments.
  • Enforce all safety and sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and OSHA requirements.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Education: High school education or equivalent experience.

Experience: Six months hotel or convention center -banquet food/beverage services environment. Experience and knowledge in all facets of banquet operations, convention services setup and a good understanding of AV equipment operations preferred.

Skills and Abilities: Able to read, speak and understand English. Able to lift, push, carry 20 - 40 lbs. Stand continuously for long periods of time. Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests.
