Job summary

Omni Austin Hotel Downtown is hiring for a Banquet Cook on weekdays and a Cafeteria Cook on weekends, supporting our culinary team in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months of food & beverage operations experience required.
  • Previous cafeteria and/or entry-level culinary experience preferred, ideally within a hotel environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both within and across departments.
  • Demonstrates a calm, professional, and welcoming demeanor when handling internal questions or concerns.
  • Basic math skills required to understand and execute recipes and measurements accurately.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to safely operate kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and execution of banquet meals and hot line production for hotel events and functions.
  • Support banquet and catering events by preparing food items according to production timelines and event requirements.
  • Follow standardized recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications.
  • Ensure all food meets quality, freshness, and food safety standards.
  • Assist with preparation of sauces, proteins, sides, and other banquet menu components.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels, assist with ordering, and minimize waste.
  • Ensure all food is prepared and ready at least 30 minutes prior to service.
  • Work efficiently to meet production schedules in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, including storage areas and equipment.
  • Adhere to all health department and sanitation guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Prepare, stock, and maintain cold and hot food items for cafeteria service.
  • Set up and maintain all service stations for meal periods.
  • Serve and portion food during service while ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Visually inspect all food before and during service to ensure quality standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and overall appearance of the cafeteria at all times.
  • Restock food and supplies throughout service as needed.
  • Maintain high level of professionalism, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Work cohesively as part of the culinary team.
  • Perform job duties with minimal supervision.
  • Assist with cleaning, sanitation, and organization across all kitchen areas.
  • Ensure all equipment is used safely and properly.

  • Ability to push, move, or transport items (up to 70 lbs) using a hand cart
  • Ability to stoop and perform repetitive physical tasks as needed
Schedule reequirements:
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Availability to support weekday (Pastry Cook) and weekend (Cafeteria Cook) responsibilities
