Job summary

Crescent Hotels & Resorts invites applications for a Banquet Cook at JW Marriott Reston Station in Reston, VA. Join a luxury property with expansive meeting spaces and a team-focused culture that values hospitality and excellence.

You will prepare high-quality dishes following recipes, manage prep and food safety, and work collaboratively to deliver exceptional guest experiences in a fast-paced hotel setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipes and production/portion standards.
• Start prep for items prepared ahead of time and manage over/under production.
• Date and rotate perishables; keep temperatures proper.
• Check pars for shift use and assist in keeping buffet stocked.
• Return all food items not used on next shift to storage with cover/date.
• Assist in correcting food cost problems and controlling waste per Crescent standards.
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment (fryers, broiler, stove, steamer, etc.).
• Perform other job related duties as assigned.

What will you be doing?

• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over prepare estimated needs.
• Date all food containers and rotate as per Crescent standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out-of stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked.

• Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover/date all perishables.
• Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per Crescent standards.
• Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.
• Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
• Perform any other job related duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Ability to meet standards of appearance. Can communicate well with guests. Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift. Must be willing to pitch-in and help co workers with their job duties and be a team player.
