Join our Culinary team in Mahwah, NJ

CulinArt Group is seeking a talented and experienced Banquet /Catering Chef to lead catering operations at a high-volume Business & Industry (B&I) account in Mahwah, NJ. This dynamic role requires expertise in managing large-scale and multi-day events-up to 20 events daily-ranging from buffets serving 2,100 guests to plated cocktail receptions and specialized menus for small groups with dietary restrictions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and participate in food preparation and quality control to ensure high standards are met.
  • Assist in creating and recommending menu changes.
  • Manage a team of 2-4 staff members.
  • Collaborate closely with the Catering Manager and report to the Executive Chef onsite.
  • Implement procedural and production changes as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all sanitation, Serve-Safe, and safety requirements.
  • Manage culinary operations, including inventory, ordering, and receiving.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in menu development, cost controls, and purchasing, with a focus on sourcing and utilizing local food products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Culinary Degree required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant culinary experience.
  • High volume production and catering experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and catering trends, with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Collaborative and innovative, with experience in menu planning.
  • Desire to work with an industry leader.
