Job summary

Stonebridge Companies is seeking a Banquet Captain - Temporary in Warren, New Jersey. You will oversee the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet events, coordinating with the Banquet Manager to ensure exceptional guest satisfaction.

You will supervise staff, manage event schedules, and ensure adherence to service standards and health/safety regulations in a fast-paced, indoor environment. Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in banquet or event management, preferably in a supervisory role.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and make adjustments as needed.
• Knowledge of banquet setups, service standards, and health/safety regulations.
• Proficiency in using point-of-sale systems and event management software.
• Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive attitude in high-paced environments.

Job description

City, State: Warren, New Jersey. Title: Banquet Captain - Temporary. Location: Warren, NJ. FLSA: Non-Exempt. Status: On-call. Reports to: General Manager. Supervises: Banquets Department. Pay Range: $15/hour + Tips.

Job Summary

The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing the setup, service, and breakdown of banquet events to ensure a high level of guest satisfaction. This role works closely with the Banquet Manager to coordinate banquet operations, supervise staff, and maintain service standards for all events.

Essential Functions and Duties

• Provide professional and courteous service at all times during banquet events.
• Ensure timely and efficient setup of all function rooms in accordance with event specifications.
• Maintain inventory levels of banquet supplies and equipment.
• Supervise and direct banquet servers, bartenders, and house-persons to ensure consistent service.
• Work with the Banquet Manager to manage event schedules and last‑minute changes.
• Ensure proper cleaning and storage of all banquet equipment after events.
• Coordinate with clients during events to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns.
• Assist in setting up function rooms according to client and event requirements.
• Collaborate with the kitchen and other departments to ensure smooth service flow during events.
• Conduct pre‑event meetings to communicate event details to staff.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills

Work Environment

Primarily an indoor work environment with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of up to 20 lbs. Requires walking and standing for extended periods, with occasional lifting and handling of event equipment. Must be available to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
