Job summary

BENCHMARK is searching for a highly motivated Banquet Captain for the Hotel Flor Tampa Downtown. The role entails directing the setup, service, and breakdown for various banquet functions, acting as the primary liaison between the banquet team and guests.

The ideal candidate will possess 2–4 years of food service experience, preferably in banquet settings, with strong communication skills and a passion for exceptional guest experiences. Compensation includes health insurance and other benefits.

Job description

Hotel Flor Tampa Downtown, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton, is located in the heart of Tampa and features 210 rooms and plenty of meeting space.

We are seeking a highly motivated Banquet Captain to direct set up, service, and breakdown for banquet functions and serve as the primary liaison between the banquet team and guests.

Responsibilities

• Set up banquet rooms, including draping, silverware placement, napkin folding, centerpieces, and beverage stations.
• Serve food and beverages to guests, including picking up trays, carrying to tables, and clearing dishes.
• Perform food & beverage preparation such as condiments, coffee brewing, and maintaining stocked workstations.
• Clean and sanitize tables, counters, and seating after guests finish.
• Provide guests with information on menu items, cooking methods, and ingredients and accommodate dietary requests.
• Support other events and restaurant staff as needed.
• Monitor table service for quality and guest satisfaction, address issues promptly.
• Maintain safety awareness (e.g., identify broken glass, leaks, suspicious persons).

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of food service experience, preferably banquet service.
• Experience in high‑volume, 4‑star or 5‑star venues with synchronized service.
• Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Passion for creating exceptional guest experiences.
• Physical ability to lift 25 lb. or more and work weekends, holidays, and on call.
