Job summary

Driftwood Hospitality Management is seeking a capable Captain to oversee banquet functions at Margaritaville Lake Resort in Osage Beach, MO. You will ensure timely, professional task completion and clear communication with management and event planners.

The role requires supervisory banquet experience, strong English communication, and a customer-first attitude. A basic Spanish background is helpful. Compensation is $17.00 per hour with full-time benefits and room for growth.

Qualifications

• Must have comprehensive knowledge of English to communicate with guests, associates, and vendors.
• Experience in banquet functions or supervisory roles is required.
• Ability to adapt to high-pressure conditions and handle changes.
• Professional conduct and appearance at all times.
• Basic understanding of Spanish is useful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide guests with top-quality service in a warm, friendly manner.
• Monitor service levels and guest comfort throughout events.
• Know menu items, specials, wines, and beverages.
• Serve items with appropriate tableware and presentation.
• Address guest compliments or complaints and report to management.
• Coordinate with function group leader for last-minute changes.
• Ensure equipment cleanliness after functions.
• Supervise banquet staff during events.
• Assist with room setups, food service, and cleanup.
• Uphold Driftwood and hotel standards of food, beverage, and service.
• Deliver an exceptional product to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Maintain departmental radio communication at all times.
• Attend required meetings.

Pay $17.00 per hour
Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age
Reports to: Director of Catering Operations, Banquet Department

As the Captain, you will oversee the successful delivery of each banquet function, ensuring team members are completing all their tasks in a timely and professional manner and communicating with management and event planners as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide guests with the finest quality of service at all times and in a warm, enthusiastic and friendly manner.
• Continuously monitor the guest’s service level and comfort at all times.
• Have a comprehensive knowledge of all menu items, specials, beverages, wines.
• Serve all items utilizing appropriate china, glassware, silverware, garnish, and condiments.
• Take ownership of all guest compliments or complaints and relay same to management.
• Meet with function group leader to determine last minute changes and discuss various setup arrangements.
• Ensure proper cleaning of all equipment after function is completed.
• Supervise assigned banquet team members throughout functions.
• Assist staff with room set‑ups, food service, and clean up when necessary.
• Maintain Driftwood and hotel standards of food, beverage, and quality guest service.
• Ensure guest satisfaction by delivering an exceptional product.
• Must have a departmental radio system with ear‑piece at all times.
• Attend required meetings.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

• Must have comprehensive knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors.
• Projects and assignments are completed thoroughly, professionally, and with care.
• Adjusts to high‑pressure conditions and is open to change.

• Conducts himself/herself, acts and dresses professionally at all times.

• Relevant experience of banquet functions and/or supervisory experience is required.
• A basic understanding of and ability to speak Spanish is useful but is not a requirement.

Physical Requirements

• Minimum lifting and/or pulling of 40 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
• Pushing, bending, stooping, upward reaching, manual dexterity.
• If weight exceeds 40 pounds, asking for assistance is required.
• Reading, hearing, writing.
