Job Description

Reports To: Banquet Manager

General Purpose: The Banquet Captain leads the event staff during a specific event, ensuring that Banquet Servers and Bartenders can operate efficiently while providing exceptional guest-focused service.

Responsibilities:

• Meet client needs and exceed expectations to execute each event successfully.
• Create a positive and motivated atmosphere for teammates.
• Provide leadership support to banquets and catering teams.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with guests, groups, and other departments.
• Communicate effectively with the Banquet Manager and Kitchen team to coordinate event details.
• Understand procedures, terminology, and techniques used in the B&C department.
• Demonstrate knowledge of ingredients of all food and beverage items served.
• Manage execution of on-site events following the directions of the Banquet Manager and standards in the B&C manual.
• Oversee setup and teardown processes.
• Interact with on-site contacts and handle requests and questions confidently.
• Respond to staff questions, resolve issues during events, and stay calm under pressure.
• Monitor staffing and scheduling, making adjustments to optimize expenses and service quality.
• Perform tasks related to event execution, including filling in for servers as needed.
• Complete post-event walk-throughs and paperwork, including accounting, inventory, and payroll reports.
• Summarize each event in the Banquet Captain Log.
• Be knowledgeable about hotel and restaurant products, features, and services.
• Provide excellent customer service to all guests.
• Report to work on time and prepared for scheduled shifts.

• Flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

• Strong math and communication skills; fluent in English.

• Pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to carry a full-service tray comfortably.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
