Job summary

Pyramid Global Hospitality is opening the Virginia Guesthouse, a 214-room property on the University of Virginia grounds, with banquet space and event services. We seek a Banquet Captain to lead setup, service, and teardown for high-volume events, reporting to the Banquet Manager.

Compensation is $17.00 per hour with opportunities to grow in a world-class property. The role requires 2-4 years in food service, preferably in banquet settings, and knowledge of wine and beverages.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of food service experience.
• PreferBanquet service experience in a luxury or high-volume setting.
• Knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spirits is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct the setup and preparation of banquet rooms for functions.
• Serve and bus tables, clear and tear down banquet spaces after events.
• Lead hourly banquet servers and housemen in coordination with the Banquet Manager.
• Ensure guest satisfaction, monitor safety and cleanliness, and protect property assets.
• Assist with event room setup according to meal period and table needs.
• Explain menu items, methods, and ingredients to guests and accommodate dietary requests.

This individual will help to direct the set up and preparation of banquet rooms for banquet functions, serve and bus tables as well as clear and tear down banquet rooms at the end of the function. Assisting the Banquet Manager this individual will lead the performance of all hourly banquet food and beverage servers and houseman and is the personal representative of the property to banquet guests. They will coordinate all aspects of the room set-up and food and beverage service enhance guest satisfaction and maximize revenues.If you have experience with leading high volume catering and banquet events, making meaningful connections, figuring out what it takes and stepping it up to win the day is what you do, and you love it, we want you! This is a tremendous opportunity for a driven person to grow and learn at a world-class property!Your role:Set up for functions to include draping tables, setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks and put out table centerpieces.Service to include picking up food from back hall, carrying trays to function location, serve food and clear the food from the tables.Break down to include bussing tables, putting away dirty linen and centerpieces, vacuuming.Responsibilities also include cleaning of back hall and organizing of storerooms.Set up for AM or PM break stations that include coffee, tea, snacks, beverages, etc.Assists as needed with event room setup according to meal period and table needsPerforms food & beverage preparation duties such as preparing condiments, brewing coffee, and ensuring workstations are stockedServes food and beverages to guests Removes dishes, glasses, silverware, or other items from tables/counter tops and takes them to the kitchenCleans and sanitizes tables and/or counters & seats after guests are finishedExplains how various menu items are prepared, cooking methods and ingredientsTakes into consideration any special request and dietary issues made by the guestProvides general property information Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guestsInteracts with staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary informationEnsures final quality check on food and beverage items prior to serving guestsMonitors assigned tables for customer satisfaction, quality, and additional serviceAddresses any guest issue promptly and with high concernAids other events and restaurant staff as neededMaintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons)IND#200What are we looking for?Someone with 2-4 years of food service experience, preferably Banquet serviceSomeone with experience in a 4-star, 5-star venue with synchronized serviceSomeone with knowledge of wine, beer, cocktails, and spiritsSomeone who is able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environmentSomeone with a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guestsSomeone with excellent communication skillsCompensation:$17.00-$17.00Pyramid Global Hospitality is an equal opportunity employer.
