Job summary

The Boca Raton Club is seeking a friendly banquet bartender to serve beverages in banquet rooms, delivering courteous, timely service that drives guest satisfaction.

You will set up banquet bars, stock beer, wine, spirits, garnishes and bar supplies; mix drinks, garnish, and present at the table; greet guests, record orders and process payments. The role requires basic math, English communication, physical stamina to stand long shifts, and strict adherence to liquor laws.

Summary

The ideal candidate will serve beverages to guests in banquet rooms in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, resulting in guest satisfaction.

Essential Functions

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

• Proper and adequate set-up of a banquet bar. This includes stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, glassware, ice and produce based on projections from the daily functions sheet.
• Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality.
• Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks. Mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control. Check guests for proper identification. Detect and act upon guest inebriation as trained. Demonstrate knowledge of liquor laws.
• Charging credit cards, member cards or room charges.
• Locks up and stores all beverage, food, and other equipment items.

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

• Attend mandatory meetings.
• Perform general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards.
• Keep work area clean and organized.
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor such as assisting security with disorderly guests.
• Must adhere to all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests to ensure all laws are being followed.

Internal Relationships

Reports to Banquet Manager/Banquet Director

External Relationships

Has regular contact with guests and members of the club.

Qualifications and Education/Experience Requirements

• Understand portion sizes.
• Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to make change, total guest checks and total all other charges.
• Basic English language writing skills.
• Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
• Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders.
• Ability to set to Banquet specific setups for Bar and inventory upon return of Bar.
• Ability to work standing and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
• Bartending and guest service experience required.

Physical Requirements

Lifting 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. It requires walking or standing to a significant degree, as well as reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
