Job summary

Crescent Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Banquet Bartender in Evanston, IL. Join our Banquets team to deliver welcoming beverage service for weddings, meetings, and hotel events in a unionized environment.

The ideal candidate brings bartending/banquet experience, strong guest service, and knowledge of Illinois liquor laws, with required BASSET and food handler certifications.

Qualifications

• Experience in bartending, banquet, restaurant, or hotel is preferred.
• Illinois BASSET certification is required.
• Food handler certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Set up, stock, and break down banquet bars per event orders.
• Prepare and serve beverages with accurate portions.
• Verify guest age according to Illinois liquor laws.
• Welcome guests and explain beverage options.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary bar during events.
• Process payments and reconcile cash and receipts.
• Monitor inventory and report shortages.
• Coordinate with banquet servers, culinary staff and managers.
• Follow safety procedures and assist with related duties.

We are looking for our next great team member to join us on our Banquets team as a Banquet Bartender. In this role, you will be creating a welcoming, provide efficient beverage service for weddings, meetings, celebrations, and other hotel events. The ideal candidate combines sound beverage knowledge with attentive hospitality, accurate cash handling, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced banquet environment. This is a unionized position.

Here is what you will be doing each day:

• Set up, stock, and break down banquet bars according to event orders and hotel standards.
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages promptly, consistently, and with accurate portions.
• Verify guest age and follow all Illinois liquor laws, responsible-service practices, and hotel alcohol policies.
• Welcome guests, explain beverage options, and respond professionally to special requests.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bar throughout each event.
• Process guest payments when required and accurately reconcile cash, receipts, and charges.
• Monitor inventory, minimize waste, and promptly report shortages or concerns.
• Coordinate with banquet servers, culinary staff, event captains, and managers to support seamless service.
• Follow food safety, workplace safety, security, and emergency procedures.
• Assist with related banquet duties as business needs require.

Does this sound like you?

• Previous bartending, banquet, restaurant, or hotel experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, classic cocktails, and standard bar equipment.
• Current Illinois BASSET certification.
• Food handler certification.
• Strong communication, guest-service, teamwork, and basic math skills.
• Ability to remain professional, organized, and attentive during high-volume events.
• Reliable attendance and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
• Must meet the legal age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages in Illinois.
