Job summary

Courtyard Downtown at USC is seeking a part-time Banquet Attendant in Columbia, SC. You will assist with setup and breakdown of banquet spaces, coordinate with kitchen staff, and ensure accurate catering service per event orders.

The role requires at least 1 year in Food & Beverage or hospitality, strong reliability, and the ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends. English fluency and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Set-up/breakdown of banquet and meeting spaces per Banquet Event Order instructions.
• Approaches all encounters with guests and colleagues in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Reviews Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) with strong attention to detail.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of banquet spaces.
• Maintain contact with kitchen or catering staff to ensure communication between food production and service.
• Transport food/beverage items to guest tables in a timely manner.
• Inspect table settings for correct placement and appearance.
• Ensure proper setting of buffet tables and other food service surfaces.
• Participate in post-function cleanup and garbage removal.
• Return all equipment to storage locations.
• Maintain clean back areas and storage spaces.
• Supervise handling and security of catering service and AV equipment.
• Exhibit a positive, enthusiastic attitude and teamwork.

Salary Range: $13.00 To $15.00 Hourly

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

• Set-up/breakdown of banquet and meeting spaces per Banquet Event Order instructions, including tables, table complements (salt, pepper, sugar, breadsticks, etc.), table linens, table settings, center pieces, dishes, audio-visual equipment, and all other event provisions;
• Approaches all encounters with guests and colleagues in a friendly, service-oriented manner
• Reviews Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) with strong attention to detail.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of banquet spaces, before, during and after events;
• Maintains constant contact with kitchen or catering staff to ensure complete effective communication between food production and food service
• Responsible for transporting food/beverage items to guest tables in a timely manner
• Inspects table place settings, including table linen, china, glass, silverware and condiments for correct placement and ensures that each element is clean, undamaged and attractive
• Ensures proper setting of buffet tables and other food service tables
• Participates in clearing and post function cleanup and garbage removal.
• Returns all equipment to the necessary storage location
• Maintains clean and orderly back areas, pre-function areas and storage areas
• Supervises the handling, storage, and security of all catering service and Audio Visual equipment
• Exhibit a positive, enthusiastic attitude committed to a teamwork effort

JOB SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees in this position work indoors and outdoors. This position often requires long periods of standing and walking as well as frequent reaching and kneeling, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting and moving objects 50 lbs or more. The Banquet Attendant must be able to quickly maneuver to any location in the hotel. Fluency in the English language and the ability to speak, hear, read and write are required as is the ability to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business requirements.
