Job description

Meredith Law Firm, LLC an established bankruptcy law firm with offices serving the Charleston, Columbia and Myrtle Beach areas is seeking a talented, highly motivated Full Time or Part Time Paralegal in our North Charleston office. Potential candidates must enjoy working in a fast paced, team-oriented environment with seasoned staff members and attorneys. At least two (2) years of bankruptcy experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Point of contact for your assigned client(s)
• Keep up-to-date records on any changes to client and court requirements
• Prepare and file Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases on behalf of debtors, which includes preparing petitions and schedules
• Draft variety of court filings including Proof of Claim, motions, objections, notices accurately and error free
• Must be able to read and interpret payment and financial records
• Maintain timely and accurate communications with clients and attorneys
• Ability to manage time and independently problem solve
• Act as backup for legal receptionist as needed and assist with general office duties (including but not limited to faxing, emailing, copying, drafting correspondences).

Requirements

• At least two (2) years of previous experience as a bankruptcy paralegal working on behalf of debtors for Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases is required
• Strong Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task as a self-starter
• Adaptable and quick to learn and work with a sense of urgency
• Must be able to meet strict deadlines
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work with different personalities and feel comfortable relaying messages between clients and attorneys
• Reliable attendance is required.
• Experience with Office 365, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Best Case, Next Chapter
