Job summary

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP seeks a Counsel to join the Finance, Bankruptcy & Restructuring Practice Group in Texas, preferably Houston or Dallas. The successful candidate will represent financial institutions, lenders and creditors in complex nationwide matters, including consumer bankruptcy and distressed asset recovery.

This off-track Counsel position features a reduced billable-hour requirement and no expectation for business development or firm management.

Qualifications

• Must be admitted to the Texas bar or eligible for immediate admission.
• 2–3 years of bankruptcy, creditors' rights, financial services litigation, or related practice.
• Experience handling bankruptcy proceedings and related litigation matters.
• Strong research, writing, analytical and advocacy skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent financial institutions, lenders, and creditors in bankruptcy matters under Chapters 7, 11, 12, and 13.
• Handle contested bankruptcy matters, including plan objections and relief from stay.
• Pursue collateral recovery remedies in jurisdictions nationwide.
• Handle judgment enforcement and related recovery proceedings.
• Draft and argue motions, pleadings, and settlement agreements.
• Appear in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts and in mediations/arbitrations.
• Manage multiple matters simultaneously with effective communication.
