Bankruptcy Attorney (Entry-Level or Experienced, Part-Time, Remote – NC)

Location:

Remote (North Carolina-based, with occasional court appearances in the Eastern & Middle District Bankruptcy Courts)

Job Type:

Part-Time (with opportunity for Full-Time and Leadership Growth)

Description:

Cameron Bankruptcy Law is a purpose-driven, women-led North Carolina law firm helping individuals break free from the weight of overwhelming debt. We believe in justice, second chances, and clear, compassionate legal guidance — not corporate coldness.

We're hiring a confident, people-first Bankruptcy Attorney to join our growing team. Whether you’re newly licensed and eager to learn, or already practicing and looking to add part-time work that actually matters, we’d love to meet you.

We’re not your typical law firm — and we don’t want a typical attorney. If Bernie Sanders and AOC are two of your heroes, and you believe the legal system should serve everyone, not just the privileged, you’ll fit right in here.

You’ll get direct mentorship from our Board Certified Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist, learn how to truly help people in crisis, and grow into a meaningful role — with a real path to full-time work and leadership.

Learn more about us at https://CameronBankruptcyLaw.com.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file Chapter 7 & 13 bankruptcy petitions using our systems and templates
  • Guide clients with clarity, kindness, and confidence throughout their bankruptcy journey
  • Attend virtual and occasional in-person hearings in the Eastern and Middle District Bankruptcy Courts of NC
  • Work remotely and independently while staying connected with our collaborative team
  • Learn from experienced mentors and, if you’re new to bankruptcy, grow into the role with support

Qualifications:

  • JD and licensed (or eligible) to practice in North Carolina
  • Admitted or eligible for admission in the Eastern & Middle District Bankruptcy Courts
  • Excellent communication skills — especially the ability to explain complex things in everyday language
  • Emotionally intelligent, detail-oriented, and organized
  • Open to:
  • Entry-level attorneys looking for training, or
  • Experienced attorneys (including solo practitioners) wanting to add meaningful part-time work
  • Big bonus if you believe law should help working people — not punish them

Compensation:

  • $40/hour during the training period (for entry-level hires)
  • Starting at $50/hour once fully trained or for experienced attorneys managing cases independently
  • Flexible, part-time hours
  • Clear path to full-time and firm leadership for the right person

Firm Culture:

We’re a women-led firm that does things differently. Our clients are often in crisis — we show up with empathy, strength, and a plan. Internally, we lead with respect, flexibility, and mentorship. Our founder is a Board Certified Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist who’s ready to train and invest in the right attorney — someone who could one day help lead or run the firm.

We believe a great attorney isn’t just smart — they’re kind, reliable, and confident. If you can explain bankruptcy in a way a 5th grader (or a stressed-out client) can understand, we want to work with you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • Learn from a Board Certified Bankruptcy Specialist
  • Make a real impact on real lives
  • Be part of a supportive, inclusive, values-driven team
  • Flexible, mostly remote work setup
  • Clear advancement and leadership opportunities

How to Apply:

Please send us your resume and a short intro telling us why you’re the right fit. Whether you’re just starting or building on experience, we’re excited to meet someone who’s bold, mission-driven, and ready to grow.
