Job summary

Citizens Financial Group seeks an Assistant General Counsel to join Citizens Bank, shaping and safeguarding the bank’s privacy and cybersecurity posture. You will provide strategic legal counsel on data protection, incident response, and regulatory compliance, influencing enterprise-wide initiatives.

You will collaborate with IT, InfoSec, Compliance, Risk and Product teams to align operations with legal requirements, manage disputes, and draft complex data-related contracts and policies.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
• 5+ years of legal experience focused on privacy, cybersecurity, and technology law.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. and international privacy laws and cybersecurity frameworks.
• Experience advising financial institutions or highly regulated industries preferred.
• Exceptional judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise senior leadership on privacy, cybersecurity, and data governance.
• Interpret and apply GLBA, CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, DPDA and related laws.
• Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements and vendor contracts.
• Identify legal risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with IT, InfoSec, Compliance, Risk and Product teams.
• Manage privacy and cybersecurity disputes and investigations.
• Contribute to policy development and training programs.
