D.L. Evans Bank is seeking a Loan Assistant/Backup Teller to provide clerical support for lending activities and backup teller coverage. The role emphasizes accurate processing, mail handling, cash transactions, and customer service with a focus on maintaining security and professional standards.

Ideal candidates have basic finance exposure, strong attention to detail, good typing skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments while representing the bank in the community.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience helpful, particularly in a financial environment.
• Basic knowledge of commercial and consumer loan services and procedures preferred.
• Familiarity with general loan documentation helpful.
• Accurate and attentive to detail.
• Well organized.
• Good typing skills.
• Willing and able to help others.
• Able to use a computer, adding machine, copy machine, and basic business equipment.
• Able to get along well with coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Processes loan payments and tracks insurance on business loans.
• May monitor disbursements on construction and development loans.
• Types a variety of documents, records, and reports.
• Opens, sorts, and distributes mail.
• Receives deposits and loan payments in person or by mail.
• Processes cash advances, gift/travel cards, cashiers’ checks, government bonds, and similar transactions.
• Disburses cash or for checks/withdrawals and pays out money after verification of signatures and customer balances.
• Processes assigned cash and transactions and balances at end of day.
• Verifies transactions, monitors deposit amounts, examines documents for proper endorsement and negotiability, and detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.
• Operates online teller terminal and provides information to customers about account status.
• Processes transfers.
• Places holds on uncollected funds when necessary in accordance with established policy.
• Assists with Safe Deposit Boxes.
• Answers telephone calls and assists customers with questions and concerns.
• Maintains security of assigned work area and places cash in teller drawer.
• Receives account holders' change of address and forwards documentation.
• Ensures customer requests and questions are promptly resolved.
• Coordinates functions with related departments and branches and provides support as needed.
• Helps other area personnel as required.
• Keeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems or concerns.
• Maintains and projects the Bank's professional reputation and promotes D.L. Evans Bank.
• Serves as a representative for D.L. Evans Bank in the community.
• Completes special projects as assigned and attends meetings as required.
