Gusto is seeking an experienced Design Leader for Banking to empower a two‑product design team (Wallet and SMB Banking). You will blend hands‑on craft with people leadership, grow the team from 3 designers, and align design with product, engineering, and risk/compliance partners.

You will shape product strategy, establish quality standards, and drive cohesive experiences across consumer and business banking, leveraging AI to move quickly and thoughtfully.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of product design experience, including 4+ years of people management experience, ideally with senior designers or higher.
• Portfolio demonstrating high‑quality work in consumer or business financial products (fintech, banking, or financial platforms).
• Experience as a player‑coach managing designers across products at different stages.
• Experience partnering with Risk, Compliance, or Legal on regulated financial products.
• Experience incorporating AI tools into how a design team works.

Responsabilités

• Manage an initial team of 3 designers, and hire to build your team.
• Build rituals, hiring pipeline, and planning cadence spanning Wallet and SMB Banking.
• Coach designers across two products at different maturity stages.
• Co-create goals and success metrics with product and engineering partners.
• Raise the bar on Wallet quality and define a new standard for Business Banking.
• Stay hands-on on high-stakes decisions while coaching for greater independence.
