Burke & Herbert Bank & Trust is seeking a Data Governance Specialist in Alexandria, VA. You will support the enterprise data governance program, define ownership and stewardship, and ensure data quality, lineage, and security across lending, deposits, and finance.

You will collaborate with risk, privacy, audit, and IT teams to meet regulatory expectations and improve data-driven decision-making. The role is exempt and onsite at our Virginia location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, data management, or related field.
• 3+ years in data governance, data management, data quality, or information security.
• Experience in a financial institution or highly regulated industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining enterprise data governance policies and procedures.
• Partner with data owners and technology teams to define roles and governance processes.
• Identify and document critical data assets across lending, deposits, and finance.
• Maintain metadata, data dictionaries, data lineage, and data quality rules.
• Monitor data quality and coordinate remediation with stakeholders.
• Support compliance with banking, privacy, security, and regulatory expectations.
• Facilitate governance meetings and documentation of decisions.
• Develop communications and training to improve data literacy.
• Collect and track governance metrics and action items.
