Responsibilities

  • Ensure loan files are complete, accurate, and compliant with Bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for lenders throughout the underwriting, closing, and servicing process.
  • Prepare and coordinate loan documentation packages for commercial and consumer loan closings.
  • Work closely with customers, attorneys, participating banks, and vendors to ensure a seamless closing experience.
  • Monitor outstanding items and proactively follow up to keep transactions moving forward.

Banker Loan Assistant - Specialized Lending Group

North State Bank has an exciting opportunity for a Banker Loan Assistant in our Specialized Lending Group(SLG) located on our corporate campus in Raleigh, NC. The Banker Loan Assistant for the Specialized Lending Group provides servicing support to the SLG team with good knowledge of commercial and consumer loans with the ability to review, prepare and coordinate loan closings; collect updated financial information and serve as the backup commercial loan portfolio manager as needed. Because of the responsibilities associated with this role, this position requires full-time, in-office attendance.

What You’ll Do
Support the Lending Process
  • Assist lenders with commercial, consumer, construction-to-permanent, and participated loan requests by gathering and reviewing required documentation.
  • Coordinate due diligence activities, including ordering credit reports, appraisals, environmental assessments, title commitments, flood determinations, lien searches, and other supporting documentation.
  • Ensure loan files are complete, accurate, and compliant with Bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for lenders throughout the underwriting, closing, and servicing process.
Coordinate Loan Closings
  • Prepare and coordinate loan documentation packages for commercial and consumer loan closings.
  • Work closely with customers, attorneys, participating banks, and vendors to ensure a seamless closing experience.
  • Monitor outstanding items and proactively follow up to keep transactions moving forward.
  • Review completed documents for accuracy and completeness prior to loan booking and funding.
Manage Loan Servicing Activities
  • Prepare loan documents for booking and coordinate collateral perfection and filing requirements.
  • Process construction and development draw requests, including communications with customers and participating financial institutions.
  • Assist borrowers with servicing inquiries, account maintenance, credits, debits, and payoff requests.
  • Process paid loans and ensure timely completion of related servicing activities.
  • Support lenders with ongoing portfolio monitoring and maintenance activities.
  • Track and collect required financial statements, insurance documentation, collateral valuations, and other covenant requirements.
  • Assist with clearing credit and technical exceptions.
  • Support ongoing quality control efforts through accurate documentation and system updates.
Support Operational Excellence
  • Upload and maintain loan documentation within Synergy, nCino, and other Bank systems.
  • Assist with basic financial spreads and reporting activities.
  • Stay current on lending regulations, policies, procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three or more years of commercial loan support, loan administration, or related banking experience.
  • Working knowledge of commercial lending processes, loan documentation, and servicing requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting participated loans, construction lending, or specialized commercial lending portfolios.
  • Familiarity with nCino, Synergy, or comparable loan origination and servicing systems.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Experience working directly with commercial customers and business clients.
