USAA offers a Bank Credit Risk Analyst internship based at the Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, TX. You will learn to identify, assess and mitigate risk while working with a mentor on real-world bank risk strategies.

You’ll conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses, develop insights for decision makers, and contribute to risk reporting using internal and external data sources. Start and end dates align with a 2027 summer program.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher at an accredited college or university and plan to graduate after the internship.
• Graduation date cannot be prior to August 13, 2027.
• Preferred quantitative majors or concentrations.
• Up to 2 years' experience in research and analysis.

• Supports team members to deliver bank risk strategy by providing analytical insights to peers and management.
• Begins conducting quantitative analysis using internal and external data sources.

• Research credit, product, and risk proposals and provide feedback to support portfolio performance.
• Maintains risk management frameworks to identify, measure, or mitigate risk.
• Develops and uses reporting to supervise and call out bank risks.
• May implement financial risk sensitivity analysis or modeling infrastructure.
• Performs routine tasks within established procedures.

The Opportunity

The Bank Credit Risk Analyst internship focuses on practicing skills that play a crucial role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk across USAA Bank. You will learn real corporate world sophisticated quantitative techniques to model and manage risks and provide critical insights to advise strategic decisions.

This internship will be based at the USAA Corporate Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas.

What you'll do:

• Completes analytical processes to assess risks and opportunities across the Bank's consumer portfolios.

• Begins conducting quantitative analysis applying extensive internal and external data sources.
• Performs qualitative analysis to support the team in departmental decision making.
• Research credit, product, and/or risk proposals and applies critical thinking skills to provide feedback in support of strong portfolio performance outcomes.
• Learns to maintain effective risk management frameworks which can identify, measure, or mitigate risk.
• Develops, maintains, and uses established reporting to supervise and call out bank risks.
• May implement financial risk sensitivity analysis, credit and/or financial modeling infrastructure.
• Performs routine tasks and within established procedures and guidelines.

What you need to have:

• To qualify, you must be pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate in the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2027 internship will start on June 2, 2027 and last through August 13, 2027.
• Graduation date cannot be prior to August 13, 2027
• Pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher at a 4-year accredited university in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative subject areas.
• Up to 2 years' experience conducting research, applying information and analysis for work results.
• Communication/presentation experience.
• Shown high attention to detail in execution of deliverables.
• Ability to identify issues and recommend solutions to address problems.

Compensation range:

The salary range for this position is: $24 - $33 per hour . Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
