Job summary

Century-Furniture in Hickory, NC is seeking a bandsaw operator to read route cards and sketches to cut wood or veneer parts to shape, using a bandsaw.

The role requires prior bandsaw experience, ability to read a ruler, and the skill to create simple forms and jigs. You will set up the saw, maintain blades, ensure tolerances, keep a clean, safe work area, and perform additional tasks as directed by the supervisor. This is a full-time, on-site position with opportunities for skilled development.

Position Summary:Position is responsible for reading route cards and/or sketches to cut wood or veneer parts to shape or pattern using a bandsaw.Position Details:Cuts to line and holds cut to close tolerance + 1/32Makes basic visual inspection of parts discarding those with obvious defectsStacks parts and cuts more than one at a time when possibleCreates own forms, patterns and jigs as needed from scratch wood to complete taskChange saw blades and does preventive maintenance as requiredSets up bandsaw with forms, guides and blades as needed to run specific partsObserves plant safety rulesKeeps work area clean and is quality conscious in performing dutiesPerforms other tasks as assigned by the SupervisorPosition Requirements:High school diploma or GED preferredPrevious bandsaw experience requiredMust be able to read a rulerPhysical Requirements:Must be able to walk, stand, climb, stoop, twist, push, pull and bend over the course of 8 hoursMust be able to lift cores of 30 pounds or moreMust be able to load stock on pallets
