Job summary

Seaport Steel Company is hiring a Band Saw Operator in Seattle, WA. You will read work orders and drawings to determine blade selection, cutting speed, and feed rate. You will load stock, clamp it, adjust the table and guides, and perform routine maintenance.

The role requires basic math, the ability to follow instructions, and adherence to safety standards. This is a full-time, evening shift position with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to read instructions, dimensions and tolerances on work orders.
• Basic math and measurement skills required.

Responsibilities

• Reads work orders to locate cutting lines and determine dimensions, blade type, speed and feed.
• Sets saw controls for speed, feed, and blade angle; positions table stops and guides.
• Loads stock, clamps securely, and performs daily saw maintenance and cleaning.
• Follows safety procedures and quality checks during cutting operations.

The higher end of the range, $29.32/hour, is reserved for candidates with exceptional experience or qualifications.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReads work order to locate cutting layout lines on stock, determine dimensions and tolerances, and determine metal to be cut, type of blade to be used, blade tension, cutting speed, feed rate, table angle, and positions of table stops and guides; other duties may be assigned from time to time.Turns controls to set prescribed cutting speed, feed rate, and table angle.Loosens table stops and guides and positions them to align and secure the workpiece.Places stock on the cutting table and clamp it into position.Able to calibrate saw and perform daily maintenance and cleaning.Knowledge of Saw functions: Power button and all switches.Read drawings.Set degree of Miter.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
