THOR Solutions, LLC is actively seeking a Ballistic Missile Defense Commander to support ATGSD Fleet Battle Lab training for a US Navy contract in San Diego, CA. The role requires extensive AD/BMD experience, develops training scenarios, and coordinates distributed events to ensure ships’ readiness.

Eligible candidates must hold an existing SECRET security clearance (U.S. citizens only) and have a background aboard AEGIS ships with JSAF/MARCI experience.

Qualifications

• Eight years experience in AD/BMD Mission Area as TACTO or BMD Watch Officer/CSC (min 3 years onboard an AEGIS DDG/CG).
• Warfare experience in Air Defense warfare command or senior staff roles.
• Five years with JSAF and MARCI.
• Five years with TDL generation systems (LOS Link 11/16, Satellite-J, Link 16) and GCCS-M.
• Experience in naval warfare training or operations.
• Knowledge of SFTRM, CWE construct, and C2 planning.
• Proficiency with common productivity software; excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and tactical support for distributed training to ships.
• Validate and implement plans; monitor event execution and document outcomes.
• Develop scenario scripts for distributed training scenarios.
• Set-up battle lab distributed, live, or virtual events and conduct post-briefings with AARs.

Job description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly motivated Ballistic Missile Defense Commander (BMDO/BMD/U) to support a US Navy contract with the Afloat Training Group San Diego (ATGSD) in San Diego, CA. The chosen individual will support technical/tactical training efforts for ATGSD Fleet Battle Lab. This role is pivotal in ensuring our ship's operational readiness and effectiveness, demanding strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate within a dynamic team environment.

Typical Responsibilities:

• Provide technical and tactical support for FBP, FST-U, STW, and BMD distributed training to ships.
• Validate and implement technical plans, test plans, and validate system functional operations. Monitor and document event execution.
• Develop scenario scripts for FBP, FST-U, STW, and BMD distributed scenarios.
• Distribute and conduct scenarios for the ATGSD Battle Lab Modeling and Simulations operations center. Set-up and configure battle lab distributed, live, or virtual events.
• Following distributed events, conduct post-briefings, and produce detailed after-action reports (AARs) including technical feedback.
• Schedule and conduct monthly Fleet AIC training.

Location:

Fully onsite at Naval Base San Diego.

Typical Pay Range

The anticipated pay range for this position in the identified location(s) is $100,000 – 120,000/year. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience.

ExistingSECRET Security Clearance Required

This position requires an existing active or interim SECRET security clearance prior to hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• At least eight (8) years of AD/BMD Mission Area experience as a qualified Tactical Action Officer or BMD Watch Officer or CSC (for a minimum of three years).
  • As part of this experience, a minimum of five (5) years must have been served onboard an AEGIS DDG and/or CG.
• Warfare experience in implementation of Task Group Concept as an Air Defense Warfare Commander (B/SUWC/BMD) or as a senior staff member for a Task Group/Force Commander, or as a Senior Facilitator with equivalent experience training warfare commanders or senior staff members.
• At least five (5) years scenario development/training/operation experience with Joint Semi Automated Forces (JSAF); Multi-System Automated Remote-Control Interface (MARCI).
• At least five (5) years of experience with Tactical Data Information Link generation systems supporting LOS Link 11(A) /16(J), Satellite-J, Link 16, Global Command and Control System-Maritime (GCCS-M); Tactical Voice/Data Communications.
• Experience in naval warfare operations or conducting training for naval warfare or equivalent joint experience.
• Knowledge of:
  • The Surface Force Training and Readiness Manual (SFTRM)
  • Composite Warfare Commander construct
  • Command and Control, regarding surveillance, engagement and planning functions required for each of the various numbered fleets
  • Staff and Fleet operations and planning procedures
  • Fleet Synthetic Training architecture
  • Ballistic Missile Defense Planning and Operations (BMD Officer/CSC preferred)
• Proficiency with common productivity software.
• Excellent communication skills.
