Job summary

The Schaumburg Park District is seeking a Parks Groundskeeper I to maintain ballfields, build pitches’ mounds, and care for batter’s boxes. The role also covers field renovations and seasonal tasks like snow removal and outdoor ice rink upkeep.

Responsibilities include assisting with event setup and takedown and performing other duties as assigned. This is a full-time, year-round position with a competitive hourly wage and benefits.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• The best applicants will have a high school diploma (or equivalent) along with some prior experience in ballfield maintenance.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license is required.
• Candidates must have (or be able to earn within 6 months of acceptance) an Illinois Pesticide Public Operator’s license.
• This position can be physically demanding and includes significant exposure to dust, dirt and debris from dragging of the ballfields.

Responsibilities

• Drag and maintain ballfields and build pitcher’s mounds; maintain batter’s boxes.
• Assist with renovation of existing fields and seasonal duties including snow removal, salting, and outdoor ice rink maintenance.
• Support special event set-up and take-down and perform other duties as assigned.
